HISTORY

The English Literature Study Program is one of the programs under the Faculty of Humanities at Universitas Islam Negeri Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang. It was first established on May 13, 1998, based on the Decree of the Director General of Islamic Religious Affairs Number: E/107/1998, under the initial name “Tadris Bahasa Inggris” (English Education).

A significant transformation occurred in 2005 with the institutional transition from Sekolah Tinggi Agama Islam Negeri (STAIN) Malang to Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Malang. Based on the Decree of the Director General of Islamic Institutional Affairs Number: DJ.II/54/2005, dated March 28, 2005, the program’s name was changed to “Bahasa dan Sastra Inggris” (English Language and Literature) to reflect a broader academic focus on language and literature.

In 2017, following the Decree of the Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia Number: 257/M/KPT/2017 on the Naming of Study Programs in Higher Education, the program was officially renamed the English Literature Study Program.

Since its establishment, the English Literature Study Program has consistently demonstrated a commitment to improving the quality of education, evidenced by accreditation achievements from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT). The program has received accreditation during the following periods:
