English Literature Study Program is one of the study programs under the auspices of the Faculty of Humanities, Maulana Malik Ibrahim State Islamic University of Malang. This program was first established on May 13, 1998 based on the Decree of the Director General of Islamic Education Number: E/107/1998, with the initial name of English Language Teaching.
Significant changes occurred in 2005 along with the institutional transformation of the State Islamic College (STAIN) Malang to the State Islamic University (UIN) Malang. Based on the Decree of the Director General of Islamic Religious Institutions Number: DJ.II/54/2005 dated March 28, 2005, the name of the study program changed to English Language and Literature to reflect a broader academic focus in the field of language and literature.
Furthermore, in 2017, based on the Decree of the Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia Number: 257/M/KPT/2017 concerning the Naming of Study Programs in Higher Education, the name of the English Language and Literature Study Program officially changed to the English Literature Study Program.
Since its establishment, the English Literature Study Program has continued to demonstrate its commitment to improving the quality of education as evidenced by its achievement of accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT).
